Twitter Whines About Uganda Blocking Them

If there’s any silver lining to these tech tyrants going on this insane ban rampage we’ve seen, it is that the entire world is finally seeing them for what they are. Uganda just decided to order service providers in the country to block various social media sites. Twitter whined about how this violated basic human rights and the principles of an open Internet. I somehow don’t think this is going to help them with their public relations considering their miserable track record on this issue.

Ahead of the Ugandan election, we're hearing reports that Internet service providers are being ordered to block social media and messaging apps.

We strongly condemn internet shutdowns – they are hugely harmful, violate basic human rights and the principles of the #OpenInternet.

This is from a company that just in the past few days bragged about banning 70,000 people including the President of the United States. Not to mention all the other bans and blacklisting they’ve been involved in for the past several years.

You see, they only condemn blacklisting and censorship when it is somebody other then them that is doing the censorship. They believe that they are the only ones who are allowed to determine who is and isn’t allowed on the Internet. These people are absolute lunatics.

Just try a search for “black pot and kettle”. The irony would, of course, be lost on Twitter.

The Ugandan elections are going on now. Pray for Uganda, guys. If Uganda falls we’re done for.

The last domino.
