The so-called group that reportedly hacked Colonial Pipeline that resulted in a major gas supply disruption, has apparently been dissolved.

Feeling the heat, DarkSide ransomware group — the one responsible for attacking Colonial Pipeline — closes after its servers were seized and cryptocurrency holdings mysteriously disappeared. Closure comes as crime forums start banning ransomware threads https://t.co/aNkVt5wfnX

This is highly suspicious and leads me to believe that the “DarkSide” was some sort of CIA front group. Nobody ever heard of this group prior to this incident and now they are just disappearing.

I’m not the only one who thinks this.

Not everyone is convinced #DarkSide is a legitimate hacking group but rather a cover for a rogue group of #CIA hackers. https://t.co/TKEwCnVu0U

Plus, it was heavily implied that this group had some sort of connection to Russia even though said evidence was never presented.

Whole thing with this pipeline hack feels as though it was some type of weird hoax to purposefully create a gas supply problem.
