Joe Rogan's Interview With Alex Jones Removed/Readded by Spotify

Joe Rogan recently signed a $100 million deal to make his show a Spotify exclusive. Many people including myself criticized him for such a move. Largely because signing such a deal meant that he was allowing a major corporation to have control over his show. And it isn’t like Rogan needs the money. He’s already a multi-millionaire many times over.

Regardless of that, I will give Rogan some credit for having Alex Jones on his show the other day. Rogan recently moved his studio to Texas due to California becoming an unlivable shithole. So I guess it made sense that he would have Jones come on seeing as though they are now in the same area.

People were not happy that Rogan had Jones on and complained to Spotify. One of the complaints was about Jones criticizing the safety of vaccines and Rogan giving a platform to Infowars videos.

Joe Rogan hosted far-right conspiracy theorist Alex Jones on his podcast today. They pushed anti-vaxx conspiracies and broadcasted banned Infowars videos. Rogan continuing to platform these far-right sickos is incredibly gross and dangerous. pic.twitter.com/ymNMm9GI5x

Strangely enough, Spotify removed the Alex Jones interview from the archive but later brought it back for some reason.

Spotify has brought back the Joe Rogan podcast with Alex Jones now. Probably a very good chance that a disgruntled employee deleted the episode. https://t.co/nDecLGIoYc pic.twitter.com/l7JV93wDXZ

How long was the Joe Rogan Alex Jones interview missing for? Not sure I buy that the file had "cache issues" and needed to be deleted and re-uploaded. Sounds like a power struggle within Spotify.

I agree with Mark’s take on this. It is likely there were internal disagreements between Rogan and Spotify’s management over the archive removal.

Whatever the case, when Rogan first started doing his show as a Spotify exclusive, many of his old shows were not brought over in the archives. Virtually all of the old shows not brought over included guests that you would associate in some capacity with right-wing content.

We’ll see if Rogan continues to bring on right-wing guests like Jones and others. I doubt he will, but the fact that he had Jones on indicates that he was at least somewhat receptive of the criticism he received relating to his Spotify deal.
