Calls Increase for Jeff Sessions to Step Down as AG

It's time for a new Attorney General. Jeff Sessions has done a terrible job.

The calls are mounting for Jeff Sessions to step down as Attorney General. Some are coming from some key Republican figures in Congress.

The Hill:

Attorney General Jeff Sessions's job security is in question after taking withering fire from fellow Republicans this week, including from two prominent House conservatives who called on him to resign.

Two leaders of the House Freedom Caucus, Reps. Mark Meadows (R-N.C.) and Jim Jordan (R-Ohio), called on Sessions to step aside in an op-ed Friday, charging he has lost control of the Department of Justice and the FBI.

Sessions has also come under criticism from Republicans and Democrats alike for his decision to rescind the Obama-era Cole memo, which gave states the space to legalize marijuana without fear of federal interference.

By withdrawing the memo, Sessions gave federal prosecutors more leeway to pursue cases against the legal marijuana industry, which is expanding rapidly in several states.

Sen. Cory Gardner (R), whose home state of Colorado is host to a booming legal cannabis industry, ripped Sessions on the Senate floor Thursday and accused him of breaking a personal pledge not to change the Obama-era policy.

Both Meadows and Jordan talked about this on Fox News. They basically said that Sessions has no control of the Department of Justice and criticized him on a number of fronts. Specifically, they talked about how there has been no special counsel on the Hillary Clinton fiasco, a lack of transparency on the #Pissgate dossier, a failure to provide documents to Congress etc..

Sessions should be removed AG. It’s obvious that he’s been a huge disappointment in this position. His decision to recuse himself on the Russia kook investigation was terrible and he’s pissing people off by tinkering around with issues like legal marijuana.

It’s time to bring someone else in. Especially if you have Republican members of Congress calling for him to resign.

To me, Sessions is indicative of the whole Trump administration- just not much to get excited about.

Trump’s biggest achievement is in the cultural shift he’s brought about by bashing the media and the NFL. Policy wise its been Ronald Reagan tier… but we’ll see what happens with immigration. That’s going to be what everyone keys in on.

We could just demote him: A-PFC. That would be more realistic.

This just over my news feed:

200,000 Salvadorans may be forced to leave as Trump ends immigration protection

The Trump administration has canceled the provisional residency permits of about 200,000 Salvadorans who have lived in the country since at least 2001, leaving them vulnerable to deportation, according a copy of a Department of Homeland Security announcement sent to lawmakers Monday.

The administration will notify the Salvadorans they have until Sept. 9, 2019 to leave the United States or find a new way to obtain legal residency.

Should give them 24 hours to GTFO.
