British Airways just experienced a major system outage after the United States effectively declared a cyber war against Russia.

Cyber attack? Just flown back from Washington & the @British_Airways IT system is down there too. The pilot even had to have flight plan etc printed off as not able to access on computer. Flights cancelled from Heathrow but bigger issue than just London. #BritishAirways

They’re claiming the system outage was not from a Russian attack.

Not sure I believe that, but whatever the cause of this outage, it shows how fragile our systems are. They’ve become increasingly complex and we have less and less competent people managing and maintaining them.

That’s why waging a cyber war on Russia is one of the dumbest things imaginable.

In other news, McDonald’s was apparently subjected to a ransomware attack.

You should expect much more of this type of thing in the future.
