Apple Apologizes for iPhone Slowdown Conspiracy

Apple is apologizing for intentionally fucking up people's phones by giving them a discount on new batteries. Talk about a slap in the face to the customer! This is a joke!

Apple under the leadership of the incompetent and overpaid sucker of cock Tim Cook, has apologized for slowing down older iPhones.

The Verge:

Apple just published a letter to customers apologizing for the “misunderstanding” around older iPhones being slowed down, following its recent admission that it was, in fact, slowing down older phones in order to compensate for degrading batteries. “We know that some of you feel Apple has let you down,” says the company. “We apologize.”

Apple says in its letter that batteries are “consumable components,” and is offering anyone with an iPhone 6 or later a battery replacement for $29 starting in late January through December 2018 — a discount of $50 from the usual replacement cost. Apple’s also promising to add features to iOS that provide more information about the battery health in early 2018, so that users are aware of when their batteries are no longer capable of supporting maximum phone performance. This is a significant change in attitude around iPhone batteries — a decade ago, when the first iPhone came out, Apple said most iPhone users would never need to replace their batteries.

This is quite the ridiculous situation. They are claiming that they had to slow down the iPhone’s performance because of battery degradation. If that were true, why not just be honest about the issues with the battery? They could have offered customers replacement options etc… Some may have even opted to upgrade. Battery degradation can be a real thing after all. But instead, they secretly degraded the iPhone’s performance without telling the customer and are blaming the battery for their chicanery.

So no, I’m not buying the battery explanation. This was a cynical attempt by Apple to push more and more people to buy newer models of iPhones by intentionally breaking them. And why wouldn’t they do this? Their faggot CEO has based Apple’s entire business model around selling unlimited numbers of smartphones by pumping out new versions every 18 to 24 months. It’s a completely unsustainable business model which is apparently why they felt the need to bully people into buying newer phones.

And what is Apple doing to fix this situation? Nothing meaningful that’s for sure. They’re only offering customers a discount on battery replacements. That’s a real slap in the face to the customer after they admittedly engaged in a conspiracy to break people’s phones. They could have least tried to have done something meaningful. This is a company that has billions upon billions of dollars at their disposal.

This whole scandal is showing what a joke Apple has become as a company.

They screwed up by not telling the customers. But they didnt slow down the phone to extend battery life as some journalists are dishonestly reporting, they slowed them down to stop the unexpected shutdowns. Iphones 6 and later were starting to shutdown unexpectedly because old batteries couldnt handle the power draw. So they HAD to do this.

I agree Apple handled it badly they should have disclosed it, but with this piece of information - which was withheld in this article for no reason whatsoever - I am almost certain this wasnt a conspiracy to get people to buy new iphones, but really just a critical patch which they didnt disclose because it would create bad publicity.

And this is what this is really all about. They make shit phones and selling it as state of art technology for top dollar.

You raise some valid points.

I’m just more cynical about this story because Apple has centered their entire business model around selling unlimited smartphones.

You are right about them slowing down the phone to prevent it from shutting down…I probably should have mentioned that in the piece… but the meat of the story is in the lack of transparency on Apple’s part. There was no reason to conceal what they did from the customer unless they had ulterior motives to sell newer phones. They obviously stand to make more money selling people a new phone than a replacement battery.
