Theresa May faces leadership challenge, vote to be held tonight

The required number of Tory MPs, 48, have now submitted letters to Sir Graham Brady requesting a vote of confidence in Theresa “Treason” May. The ballot will take place tonight between 6 and 8pm. May could be gone in 24 hours.

They should have done this after her disastrous 2017 election campaign, which saw her party lose enough seats that it had to be propped up by the Democratic Unionist Party (DUP), rather than delay and give her a chance to redeem herself in the Brexit negotiations. May’s speech in a synagogue praising Jewish terrorists who murdered 800 British servicemen should have told everyone all they needed to know about whose side she was on.

But I expect there’ll be too many career politicians who are afraid to vote against her. Let’s hope she is forced to go.

Who would take the helm then – Boris Johnson?

Any of the cats pictured on this site could have done a better job of the EU negotiations than the Remainer Treason May. It needs someone who will simply walk away and tell them we’re leaving, there will be no 39 billion pound payment to fund the EU gravy train, we’re preparing to go over to WTO terms for trade with the EU, but if they want a free trade deal with no strings attached we’re interested.

The new leader should be a Brexiteer such as Boris Johnson (currently favorite at around 4/1 in the betting).

Other okay candidates are Dominic Raab, Jacob Rees-Mogg and David Davis. The (((establishment))) are surely hoping that if May is ousted another Remainer such as Amber Rudd will take over. She was recently brought back into the government after being caught lying about the Windrush ‘scandal’.

The Paki Sajid Javid is around 5/1; he is at least a Brexiteer, although hardly ideal for PM. Of the women, Ester McVey (25/1) had enough integrity to resign from the government over May’s hopeless ‘deal’.

Nigel Farage is not even a Conservative, but he’s quoted at between 100/1 and 500/1 as their next leader.

Unfortunately, it’s about 1/10 for Theresa to win the confidence vote, and 6/1 against losing. However, if the winning margin is slim, she will find it difficult to cling on.

Nadine Dorries. another female Brexiteer, predicts that some of her party will secretly vote against May after telling the Whips that they’ll support the PM, and if May wins, she’ll only just survive for now and will be mortally wounded.

But even if she wins the confidence vote, then in the unlikely event that she manages to win a vote in parliament for some re-packaged ‘Brexit’ deal that is really just Brexit In Name Only, the DUP have said they would no longer support the government. So then she’ll be stuck with a minority government.

Treason May won by 200 votes to 117, which is hardly a resounding vote of confidence by her own MPs. Nigel Farage predicts that May will stall for time until we run up to the January 21 deadline, then will extend Article 50 to delay Brexit rather than leave on WTO terms.
