The Department of Justice is reportedly seeking the power to detain people indefinitely without trial.
The Justice Department has quietly asked Congress for the ability to ask chief judges to detain people indefinitely without trial during emergencies — part of a push for new powers that comes as the coronavirus spreads through the United States.
Documents reviewed by POLITICO detail the department’s requests to lawmakers on a host of topics, including the statute of limitations, asylum and the way court hearings are conducted. POLITICO also reviewed and previously reported on documents seeking the authority to extend deadlines on merger reviews and prosecutions.
There are people in all three branches of government who are going to use this coronavirus situation to try and push forward all sorts of insane agendas. This appears to be one of them. Such a request is unconstitutional, but the government stopped following the Constitution a long time ago. It only exists as the supreme law of the land in theory and not in practice.
And let’s be honest with ourselves. These powers are not going to be used to arrest real criminals like Hillary Clinton. It’s going to be used against political dissidents and anybody who doesn’t go along with government edicts as this national emergency plays out.
This is probably part of the government conspiracy to send mass numbers of Americans to FEMA camps.
