North Korea has expressed willingness to hold direct talks with the United States. They’ve also signaled that they’re willing to halt their nuclear program.
North Korea is willing to talk to the United States about giving up its nuclear weapons, South Korea said Tuesday, in a remarkable development that followed unprecedented meetings in Pyongyang.
North Korean leader Kim Jong Un also has agreed to refrain from conducting nuclear and missile tests while engaging in dialogue with South Korea, Seoul’s national security chief Chung Eui-yong said after returning from talks with Kim.
Chung said Pyongyang expressed willingness to talk to the United States “in an open-ended dialogue to discuss the issue of denuclearization and to normalize relations with North Korea.”
You would think that the media would give Donald Trump some credit for this. What we are seeing appears to be a foreign policy breakthrough with North Korea. Of course, Trump is not going to get any credit for anything no matter what. Over 90 percent of the media coverage on Trump has been negative and that's going to continue.
But this idea that North Korea is going to nuke the United States has always been crazy manufactured hysteria promoted by the media. Hopefully talks can finally be held and all this war talk can be dialed back. A path forward for the unification of the Korean people should be the ultimate goal.
